The Nurturing Network understands that each Member of our educational network strives to maintain and promote the quality of its academic reputation. Therefore, we do not expect any institution to compromise its admission standards in order to accept a Client of the Network.
- We ask that each college or university Member of the educational network appoint an administrative official to act as a liaison with The Nurturing Network. This contact person would ideally have experience in counseling as well as a strong knowledge of the college, its academic departments and other services.
- To simplify administrative processes, we suggest that as a general rule, The Nurturing Network’s Clients be considered transfer or visiting students at your college. By doing so, we hope that each academic institution can reduce any additional administrative work that may arise from being a Member of our Network.
- Academic credit should be transferable back to the “home” institution which will eventually grant the degree (unless other arrangements are made for a permanent transfer.)
- Because of the circumstances which will lead a Network Client to apply to your institution, it would be most helpful if one appointed member of your admissions staff would handle each Network Client’s application as quickly as possible outside of your traditional academic calendar.
- Normally, a Client will continue to draw on her own financial resources while attending your institution. Tuition will be paid at the rates prevailing at the institution to which the student is transferring, not the institution from which she is transferring.
- Every effort should be made to maintain the student’s existing financial aid package. If a woman in our program meets the eligibility criteria for financial aid, we ask that she be considered a candidate for assistance. In the case where a Network Client does apply for financial aid, we suggest that the appropriate applications be processed quickly and handled individually by an appointed member of the financial aid office’s staff.
- Given the special needs of pregnant women, The Nurturing Network has in place around the country a network of ob/gyn physicians who are ready to provide whatever additional medical support is needed. However, it is our hope that any medical services which are available to a visiting student will be equally accessible to a woman in our program.
- When a Client of the Network transfers to a Member college, we will place her with a Nurturing Family in the area; therefore, we do not expect the college to provide on-campus housing. At the same time, if any member of the college faculty or staff is interested in opening their home to a young woman, we encourage them to speak with our Manager of Nurturing Homes about becoming a Nurturing Family.
- Finally, while attending your college or university, each Client of The Nurturing Network is expected to abide by the rules of the institution as would any student. Our Clients have been carefully screened in order to reduce the risk of any difficulties. In the event that a problem should arise, The Nurturing Network is prepared to work with you.
