Mary Cunningham AgeeI would like to take this moment to express my joy and gratitude for your interest in the Nurturing Network’s Cluster Development program. It is a source of great comfort and encouragement to work alongside friends like you who both understand the plight of a woman facing the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy and feel called upon to offer her support.

What began as a modest, grassroots attempt to marshal the energy and talent of a few caring friends has blossomed over the years into a powerful Network of 50,000 volunteer Member Resources.  Our volunteers now form an extensive employment, medical, educational, counseling and residential network which enables a college or working woman to continue the life of her unborn child -- without sacrificing her own educational and career development.

Since our founding, we have provided a positive alternative to abortion to 24,000 women by offering each mother an individually-tailored program of support free of charge.  As you can tell from our website, the objective of The Nurturing Network is not a political one, but a most practical one: To ensure that every woman knows that all of the assistance she needs in order to continue her pregnancy is available by visiting our website.

You may be interested to know that our Network cooperates with hundreds of participating colleges and universities, corporate employers, hospitals, and nearly 2,400 crisis pregnancy centers all across the country.  During this past year alone, one quarter of TNN’s Clients were referred to us by these and other local service providers.

We also work closely with caring individuals, student leaders and directors of faith-based programs who share our commitment to ensure that all human life is nurtured and protected.  We have found that this kind of collaboration makes our common goal more viable and this work most effectively.

Thank you for considering how you might participate as a TNN Cluster Coordinator in your community. Having you by my side will make a significant difference as we strengthen our ability to serve more women with a greater range of services. Please don’t hesitate to share your ideas about how we might accomplish this strengthening most effectively. In particular, please feel free to make a list of friends or contacts you would like to see TNN reach out to with an invitation to participate in our work.

Over the years we have found the formation of local “Clusters” of resources is the most effective means of strengthening our ministry in literally thousands of communities all across this country.  When each of the key components of a nurturing support system is available in any given location, we can then responsibly assign one of our Clients to this area.

I am pleased to provide a comprehensive packet of information that will serve as a helpful starting point in developing a local TNN Cluster.  Our Clustering Packet includes Member Resource Applications and Helpful Hints, materials that are especially designed for college campus outreach, a 15-minute motivational talk appropriate for small group presentations and camera ready artwork for campus newspapers and other local publications.  Two individual pieces of information that others have found to be particularly helpful in planning their local outreach efforts are “Message about Clustering – Guidelines for Cluster Coordinators” and “Ideas for College Campus Resource Development.”  Please let us know if you have any questions or if there are any additional materials that would be helpful to you in your new leadership role.

A General Information Packet is also available that contains our brochures, list of Board of Directors, latest Newsletter and several informative articles about our Network.  This packet provides an overview of TNN’s service program.  In particular, I encourage you to read the moving excerpts from several of our Client files.  Your review of this material along with a viewing of our 20th Anniversary documentary DVD will hopefully inspire you to consider how our Network can become an even more powerful resource in your own community.

Most important of all, if you meet a woman who could benefit from TNN’s program, please share our brochure, Website address and toll-free number with her.  Our Network Client Application is available online and we are ready to assist in any way that we can.

If you have questions or would like to receive additional materials, please feel free to contact me or one of our Staff members.

I look forward to working with you on this life-affirming mission and offer my heartfelt appreciation to you for caring enough to consider how you may be able to help.  On behalf of all our TNN Clients and Members, I wish you the special peace that comes from knowing that your encouragement and support will make a difference  . . . one that will literally be remembered for a lifetime.

With gratitude,

Mary
